He married Margaret (Peggy) (Doherty) Tuohy May 2, 1959. Margaret was born January 6, 1939. She is the daughter of Charles Doherty and Nellie (Ellen) (Campbell) Doherty.

John Patrick Tuohy and Margaret (Peggy) (Doherty) Tuohy had the following children:

2 i. John Patrick² Tuohy Jr. was born October 28, 1959. He married Dawn Marie (Cook) Tuohy. Dawn was born December 10, 1958.

+ 3 ii. Eugene Charles Tuohy was born August 8, 1961.

4 iii. Rosemary (Tuohy) Palawski was born September 25, 1963. She married Paul Palawski October 1, 1983. Paul was born November 24, 1961. (See Paul Palawski for the continuation of this line.)

+ 5 iv. Brendan James Tuohy was born September 11, 1964.

+ 6 v. James Joseph Tuohy was born December 2, 1966.

7 vi. Liam Matthew Tuohy was born December 7, 1977.
